I have a recipe for breakfast banana smoothie that I use every other day if I want to skip breakfast. It keeps my stomach full for a long time and is very light for digestion. You can see the recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 1 peeled banana.
  • ½ cup milk (soy, almond or plain).
  • Half cup unflavoured yogurt.
  • Half a cup of Oats.
  • ½ cup berries of your choice.
  • 1 pinch salt.
  • 1 pinch black pepper.
  • A teaspoon of chia seeds.
  • One cup of ice cubes.

Blend all the ingredients together into a smoothie and use it as a substitute for breakfast in the morning. It will give you energy for the day and also keep your stomach full.

As breakfast

Bananas in breakfast are very important for me because I like the taste as well as it provides me energy for the day.

You can use banana in a variety of ways in breakfast. You can make banana pancakes, banana smoothies as previously discussed or simply add some banana slices to your cereal.

I am a big fan of Banana French toast. I am sharing the recipe for it below.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bread slices.
  • 1 cup milk.
  • 1 egg.
  • One pinch salt.
  • 1 pinch sugar.
  • 1 pinch pepper powder.
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil.
  • 1 mashed ripe banana.

Beat the egg till it has some froth and add the milk to it. Mix it well and then add salt, pepper powder and cinnamon powder to it.

Add the mashed banana and mix it well to form a batter. Put some oil in a hot pan.

Dip the bread in the bread in the batter and fry it on the pan. Flip the toast when ready and take it off the stove.

You can enjoy it while it is hot with some maple syrup or honey.

As a snack

For those who want a-between-meals snack, banana can be used as a great substitute.  Eating one banana in between meals will kill your hunger and stop you from being bloated.

As an alternative, you can eat sun-dried ripe bananas as a healthy snack option.

I don’t know if it is available everywhere, but it is available at some shops. This alternative will save you from fearing that your banana will become overripe if not eaten within a day or stored in a bag.

You can eat a banana a day without fearing for calories and it will also make your skin glow.

As after workout meal

This by far is the best use of bananas. As you know that banana provides energy and low calories.

So if you are doing an intense workout, and you need some post-workout energy, then you can just add some banana to your protein shake to build up your depleted energy.

However, it is suggested that you drink only a limited amount of this drink as its high carbohydrate and protein content makes it harder to digest and may affect the kidneys with long term use.

As vegetable for curries

All we have seen is how to use ripe bananas but do you know that you can also use it in its unripe state. Yes, you heard it right.

 I use a banana face pack every night followed by a moisturizer before going to bed. It makes my skin smooth and soft.

I can very well use it daily as it is natural and does not cause harm to the skin.

Below are some face packs with banana that I like to use.

How to make banana face mask?

Banana and honey face pack: Take 1 ripe banana and mash it well to make a fine paste. Add 1 teaspoon of honey to it and blend it well. Apply it to your skin and let it dry for some time. Wash it with warm water and apply a moisturizer. Your skin will become smooth and soft.

Banana and milk face pack:  Add 1 spoon of milk to 1 mashed ripe banana and apply it to your face and neck. Allow it to dry for some time and wash it with warm water. Results will be clearly visible after daily use for one week.

Banana and avocado face pack: Avocado has rich and anti-aging properties and adding it with banana will give you younger-looking glowing skin.

Banana and yogurt face pack:  If you have dry skin, this is the ultimate face pack for you. Add 1 teaspoon of unflavoured full fat yogurt to 1 mashed ripe banana and mix it well. Now apply this paste generously over the dried and patchy skin. It will not only hydrate the skin with essential oils but will also remove the dried dead skin cells thereby leaving smooth skin. Using this face pack regularly will also reduce the blemishes left behind.

Banana and gram flour face pack:  This face pack is for people with oily skin. Gram flour removes excess oil from the skin and prevents skin breakage. It also acts as a mild exfoliator. Just add 1 teaspoon of gram flour to 1 mashed banana and apply it to the skin. Let it dry for 15-20 mins and wash off with cold water. You will see that the excess oil is gone and the pores are less visible. Use this pack daily for best results.

As scrub

 Do you throw away the peel of ripe banana when you eat it? Well, do not waste it anymore.

Banana peel is rich in vitamins and works a great exfoliator. Just lather some honey on the inner side of the peel and rub it on the skin.

Rub it for about 5-10 mins and then leave on the skin for some more time till it dries off. Wash with cold water.

This will mildly exfoliate your skin and make it soft. If you want more exfoliation then you can use sugar instead of honey.

However, using sugar on the face is not suggested as it may destroy the delicate skin but it can be used on other parts of the body.

Alternatively, you can also use mashed ripe bananas as an exfoliator in the same way as using the peel.
